CHIDDINGSTONE STREET
FULHAM
This project in Fulham involved a rear side return infill for a private client, designed to create an open-plan living space that integrates the kitchen, dining, and sitting areas. The aim of the project was to enhance both the functionality and aesthetic appeal of the rear section of the house, which previously featured a dislocated kitchen and awkward existing side-facing bay. This bay was demolished to make way for the new design, allowing for a more cohesive and expansive layout.
The design focused creating a spacious, modern environment with high-quality finishes including herringbone flooring that guides the eye out to the rear garden, and modern Crittall style sliding pocket doors. The pocket doors allow the kitchen to fully open up to the rear, making the garden an integral part of the living space and ensuring a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces.
One important consideration throughout the design process was the client’s pet, a little schnauzer, whose bed was carefully positioned within the plan design to ensure the whole household could enjoy the new living space. Upon completion, the project transformed rear living space that not only meets the client's functional needs but also elevates their overall living experience. The new open-plan area is a bright, airy, and inviting environment, perfect for day-to-day living and entertaining.
