BRIAR COTTAGE

GT. ABINGTON, CAMBRIDGESHIRE

The selling agent recommended us to the buyer of Briar Cottage: She was an elderly lady wanting to downsize from her large house in the centre of Cambridge. The project comprised of two phases, the first to fully renovate and extend the cottage and the second to convert the timber framed garden into additional accommodation.

Phase 1: The older part of the house in painted brick and flint had a less attractive side extension. It was decided that the extension would be modified and extended further. In addition, the conservatory was removed and replaced with a garden room - effectively to extend the sitting room. The stair was relocated centrally making an altogether more practical layout on both floors.

Phase 2: The barn has been transformed into additional accommodation used for family/guests, parties and games. A full height room with a sleeping mezzanine over a store, wc and kitchenette at one end makes a very exciting space.
